At the apex of Italian sparkling wines: Kettmeir award-winning at the Champagne&Sparkling Wine World Championships 2022.

Yesterday, at Merchant Taylors Hall in London, the “Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships Award Dinner" was held, the annual event celebrating the most highly respected, comprehensive and rigorous international competition for sparkling wines anywhere in the world. The Championships, judged by authorities Tom Stevenson, Essi Avellan MW and George Markus, crowned the 2018 Athesis Metodo Classico Brut Alto Adige D.O.C. in magnums as “Best Italian Sparkling Wine” and a “World Champion Rising Star”.

For the first time in eight years, at the top of the CSWWC’s ratings of Italian sparklers there was a wine from the Alto Adige D.O.C., an authentic “bubbly from the Dolomites” and the first Metodo Classico to be released onto the market by Kettmeir in 1992.

Naturally elegant, instinctively refined, Kettmeir’s Metodo Classico sparklers reveal from the very first sip intense aromas and a delightful freshness. The high altitudes generously offered by the Alto Adige’s terroir, the cold north winds that encounter warm currents from the Mediterranean, and the marked thermal excursions create an ideal ambiance for the Pinot Bianco, Pinot Nero and Chardonnay grapes.
The range offers four single-vintage wines, in the following versions: Extra Brut Riserva 1919; Pas Dosé; Athesis Brut Rosé; and Athesis Brut. Every year they are highly appreciated and win numerous awards from critics both in Italy and abroad.

“People talk a lot about terroir, so we want them to sense it as soon as they put their nose in the glass. When you drink Kettmeir, you should think: yes, that’s the Alto Adige” says enologist Josef Romen, describing the “bubblies from the Dolomites” from Kettmeir.
